The 255MW Sunraysia Solar Farm is complete!
Stralis Energy are extremely proud of this huge milestone in Australia’s mission to reduce it’s environmental footprint. This is the 4th large scale solar project we have built in Australia and they keep on getting bigger and bigger.
Solar farms are continuing to thrive in Australia. This is due to our vast availability of land and the amount of sun we receive. The State and Federal Governments are now getting behind the renewable energy industry. The introduction of Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) is just the beginning. Stralis Energy are looking forward to being the industry leaders in solar farm installations. Installing a system that can produce hundreds of megawatts of clean energy. Whats not to love.
The Sunraysia Solar Farm was a project by Maoneng managed by Decmil. Stralis Energy performed the installation and connection of the farm. This included all of the DC, high voltage and low voltage electrical work. Our team that worked on the project were all blown away by the sheer scale of the farm.
The finished project will be able to produce 255MWDC of electricity. As a result the farm can power over 50,000 houses! The project consists of 828,000 solar panels, spread across 800 hectares. The installation used more than 4000km of cable. The Australian solar industry had seen not seen a project of this scale before.
Solar Farm Locations.
The location of the farm is 17km south of Balranald and 140km south east of Mildura. The project provided many economic and social benefits to the region. Benefits include direct and indirect employment, economic stimulation through purchases and regional promotion. Due to the remote locations of solar farms in Australia there is huge opportunity for communities in the surrounding area. The scale of these solar farms means hundreds of workers will be in the area for extended periods of time.
Check out this video that really demonstrates the enormity of the Solar Farm.
